Eduardo Ercia, M.D., 79, of Tampa, born August 22, 1932, passed away July 7, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. A native of Cienfuegos, Cuba and resident of Tampa since 1969, Dr. Ercia was a graduate of the University of Havana Medical School in 1960, and a dedicated physician for over 50 years. He is survived by his beautiful wife of 56 years, Concepcion Ercia; sons, John E. (Linda) Ercia, and Sixto R. (Lourdes) Ercia; daughters, Aida M. (George) Achin, and Joann M. Ercia-Mendoza; grandchildren, Alec M. Achin, Jackelynn C. Mendoza, Alexis N. Ercia, Jazlynn M. Mendoza, Ashley M. Achin, and Sarah N. Ercia; brother and sister in Cuba, Santiago and Josefina Ercia; and several loving nieces and nephews; and other loving family members. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday afternoon, July 11, at 1 o’clock at Christ the King Catholic Church, 821 S. Dale Mabry Hwy., with Monsignor Laurence E. Higgins, P.A., Pastor Emeritus, St. Lawrence Catholic Church, officiating. Entombment will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Wednesday morning, July 11, from 11:00 AM until time of the mass at church.
